As we slowly approach Freedom Day in the UK, after a tough 18 months in and out of lockdown, we are dreaming of the possibilities that summer 2021 hold. Slim Aarons is best known for his incredible photography of ‘beautiful people doing beautiful things’ usually in tropical, luxurious locations. At Studio Smiths we like to draw inspiration from our world travels and often incorporate culture and architecture into our interiors

We are day dreaming of sailing across the Mediterranean Sea in the sunshine or basking on a beach with a cocktail in hand. As we prepare for a busy year ahead in the studio, we hope to see the return of travel this summer

George Allen Aarons who was born in 1916 in New York City, and commonly known as Slim due to his six foot four tall frame, started playing around with a camera while working in the United States Army. Slim worked as a photographer at a military academy and later as a combat photographer documenting the horrors of the war across Northern Africa and Europe. After the war, Slim vowed to walk on the sunnier side of the street, opting to photograph girls not guns and ‘bikinis instead of bombs’
